By Doug Watson

Winchester, VA- James Lichliter scored his first win of the season in last Saturday nights 25-lap Limited Late Model headliner at Winchester Speedway. The win for Lichliter, worth $1000, came steering his MasterSbilt no.8 and made him the 5th different driver to score a win in the six races run for the class this season.
Two-time feature winner Wesley Bonebrake zoomed into the lead at the drop of the green and set sail. Bonebrake would pace the field for 18-circuits until Lichliter blew in to snare the lead on the 19th lap. Despite the repeated advances from eventual runner-up Scott Palmer, Lichliter would control the final six laps to take the win. “I knew we had a fast race car when we unloaded and it’s a great feeling to get a win here tonight.” Lichliter stated in victory lane. “When I saw the 86 come up on the scoreboard in second I knew I would have my hands full but he ran me clean and we were able to come out on top.” Donnie Farlling, Andy Anderson and Jonathan DeHaven would complete the top-five. Heats went to Lichliter, Bonebrake and Farlling.
Allen Brannon would also collect his first Winchester feature win with his victory in the 20-lap RUSH Crate Late Model main. Allen wrestled the race lead from his son, and defending track champion, Devin Brannon on the 9th lap and would cruise to the win aboard his Longhorn no.30. “That boy of mine is a heck of a racer and it sure was fun racing for the win with him here tonight.” The younger Brannon rode home second with Steve Lowery, Tanner Kerr and Glen Elliott rounding out the top-five. Heats went to Allen and Devin Brannon.
Mike Franklin continued his domination with his 4th win of the season in the 25-lap E-Mod contest. Franklin drove past Cody Williams on the 9th lap and would eventually lead the distance steering his Lethal Chassis no.74. “Cody was good tonight and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to get him, but thanks to this team for another great car tonight.” Rick Hulson rallied late for second with Jimmy Jesmer Jr., Cody Williams and Justin Cullum trailing at the finish.
Chris Sumption rolled to his 4th win of the season in the 20-lap Pure Stock championship event. Sumption jumped into the lead on the first lap and would lead all 20-circuits for the $800 win with his ARC Race Cars built no.50SS. “We usually end up with the hard charger in these bigger races and It’s nice to finally win one.” Defending track champion Jeremy Tinsman took second with Kory Sites, Jerry Jenkins Jr. and Craig Parrill filling the front five. Heats went to Ethan Ours, Sumption and Sites. Keeping it in the family, Cody Sumption took his 5th win of the season in the nightcap 15-lap Enduro Stock main. Following Sumption across the line were Cody Breeden, Hilton Pickeral, Nathaniel Younker and Dylan Rutherford. Heats went to Sumption and Pickeral.
