Ramona, California’s Bobby Bender continued his amazing season with his series leading seventh California Lightning Sprint Car main event win of 2010 last Saturday night at the Ventura Raceway. Bender’s latest triumph came just two weeks after his win in the 1st Annual Christian Stover Memorial at Perris. With 15 races in the books, the victory gives Bender a nearly 50% victory ratio for the year. No other driver in the series has won more than two mains thus far.
Starting on the outside of the second row for the 20-lap main event on the beach side quarter mile dirt oval, Bender prevailed over Placentia veteran Dan Hillberg and A.J. Bender of Ramona in the main. Series point leader Jarrett Kramer of Spring Valley and the Torrance based “Okie Astronut” Tobey Sampson rounded out the top five.
Bobby Bender and Corona’s Darren Hillberg won the two heat races earlier in the night.
The CLS has this weekend off before heading to the Bakersfield Speedway for the final time of 2010 on September 25th. Kramer will take a 28-point lead over A.J. Bender in the championship standings into Bakersfield. Bobby Bender is third some 68-points behind the leader.
The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to acknowledge the following sponsors for making the 2010 campaign possible.
