A strong field of 21-cars was in the pits to vie for the $3,000 prize. After taking over the lead on the back stretch on lap 1, Bryan Bernheisel wired the field to claim his first super late model victory at the track. Bernheisel held one win in the limited late model division going into Saturday night’s competition.
Tyler Horst and Bryan Bernheisel made up the front row of the 30-lap feature. Horst led the field into turn 1 with Bernheisel to his outside. Bernheisel grabbed the lead down the back stretch to lead lap 1.
Bryan’s dad, Jim Bernheisel, and Nick Dickson battled for third with Jim holding the spot. Jim went to work on Horst for second and then the yellow flag came out on lap 2. Chad Julius got turned around in turn 2.
Bryan led, Horst, Jim, Dickson and Shaun Jones to the cone for the single-file restart.
Bryan went to the top on the restart and started to pull away from the field. Horst held on to second as Jim was closing in once again. Jones got by Dickson for fourth.
The second caution of the race cam on lap 5 for Chad Julius and DJ Groft when they got together in turns 1 and 2.
Jim got by Horst for second. Jones didn’t waste any time starting to work on Horst for the third spot. Jason Covert entered the top five on lap on lap 6.
Bryan had a straight-away lead as he caught lapped traffic on lap 10.
Behind the Bernheisel duo a three-car battle for third was well underway between Horst, Jones and Covert.
Kyle Martin got backwards in turn 2 on lap 11 bringing out the yellow flag.
The top five for the restart were Bryan, Jim, Horst, Jones and Covert.
Once again Bryan pulled away from the field on the restart. Jones and Horst raced door to door down the back stretch for third.
Covert joined the battle for third making it a three-car battle at the line on lap 13. Jones got by Horst at the line to take third. Two laps later Covert followed taking fourth from Horst.
Bernheisel had a commanding lead as he caught lapped traffic yet again on lap 16. Jim, Covert and Jones battled for second with Covert getting by Jones for third on lap 17.
Jones didn’t let Covert pull away and the two raced side by side for position allowing Dylan Yoder to catch them. Yoder, who started fifteenth in the main event, got by Jones for fourth on lap 19.
Covert got by Jim for second with 10 laps to go. Jim hit the wall and lost some ground falling to fifth but the caution came out allowing Jim to salvage his third place spot.
Pole-sitter Horst pulled in right before the yellow. The caution on lap 21 was for Kyle Martin.
Covert stayed with Bryan going into turn 1 on the restart while Jim, Jones and Yoder battled for third. Jones got the spot by a nose over Jim at the line on lap 26 as the two were door to door.

Brett Wanner Wins and Claims Summer Series Championship
Not only did Brett Wanner win his second feature event of the season at Lincoln on Saturday night, with the win Wanner also claimed the 358 Sprint Summer Series Championship.
Wanner shared the front row with Dylan Norris for the 25-lap feature. Wanner led the field into turn 1. Norris opted for the low line through the turns to hold onto second.
Fourth-place starter, Cameron Burke slowed after making contact with Cody Fletcher in turn 4. Burke was able to make it off the track before the yellow flag flew.
Shortly after Burke exited the track the caution did come out on lap 3 for a four-car pile up in turns 3 and 4. Zane Rudisill, CJ Tracy, Travis Scott and Jordan Strickler were involved. All four cars rejoined the field.
Wanner paced the field ahead of Norris, Fletcher, Jordan Givler and Chad Criswell for the restart.
Norris continued to use the bottom line around the track to stick with Wanner who was running the high line. Givler was working on Fletcher for third when the yellow came out again on lap 6. Kyle Rohrbaugh ended up nosed into the inside wall on the back stretch.
Givler made the pass for third before the caution came out. The top five for the restart were Wanner, Norris, Givler, Fletcher and Criswell.
Going into Saturday night’s feature, Todd Rittenhouse Jr. had a 65 point advantage over Fletcher in the season point standings for first. Fletcher fell off the pace on lap 7 bringing out the caution. Not what Fletcher wanted to have happen with the point battle so tight with only two races remaining after Saturday.
With the loss of Fletcher, Steve Owings made his way into the top 5 for the restart.
Chris Frank had his eyes set on getting into the top 5 and battled side by side with Owings at the line on lap 8. Owings edged out Frank by inches to hold onto fifth.
The point battle took another interesting turn when Todd Rittenhouse Jr. brought out the red flag on lap 11. Rittenhouse took a wild ride in turns 3 and 4.
Criswell battled Givler for third down the front stretch on the restart as Wanner drove away from the rest of the field.
Givler got away from Criswell’s challenge and used the top line around the track to hunt down Norris for second.
Norris was closing in on Wanner as the laps wound down. Dylan made a pass for the lead down the back stretch and the two crossed the line side by side on lap 23 with Norris having the advantage.
Wanner reclaimed the lead coming out of turn 4 with white flag waving and beat Norris back to the checkered flag by .186 seconds. Givler finished a close third and Criswell crossed the line fourth. Owings completed the top five.
358 Sprint heats were won by Brett Wanner, Dylan Norris, Jordan Givler and Cody Fletcher.

Paulson caught Wrightstone and was challenging him for the lead when the caution came out on lap 4. Stofflet, who had been running third, got turned around in turn 2.
Paulson took a look to the inside of Wrightstone on the restart but couldn’t make the pass. Paulson took the lead down the back stretch on lap 6 right before the caution came out for Hahn. Hahn had been running third and got backwards in turn 4.
Scott Shaffer was closing in on Wrightstone for second as Paulson entered lapped traffic.
Shaffer got by Wrightstone and went to work reeling in Paulson. Shaffer got by Paulson for the lead on the back stretch as the two navigated lapped traffic.
