9.19.20 Pennsylvania Sprint Series Results

By: Frank Buhrman & Stephanie Dodson
Dale Schweikert has done well at Clinton County Speedway this season, but a bad break for fellow veteran Ryan Lynn added to his skills and led to victory in the Nittany 40, the track’s biggest race for IMCA/RaceSaver sprint cars Saturday night. He collected $800 plus bonuses.

The race was co-sanctioned by the Laurel Highlands Sprint Series and the Pennsylvania Sprint Series.

The Linden, Pa., racer, who these days competes mostly with the Laurel Highlands, had already won twice at Clinton County but narrowly lost out in a three-way battle with eventual titleist Garrett Bard for the track championship, so victory in the season finale was a very nice consolation prize.

Lynn, the Hollidaysburg resident who races regularly in both series, led much of the event before mechanical problems first cost him the lead on a lap 24 restart and eventually sidelined his #26 sprinter after 33 laps. That put Schweikert’s #78 up front, where he finished ahead of Tyler Cochran, Scott Lutz, Bard and Jared Zionkowski.

Derek Hauck, Ken Duke Jr., Jeffrey Weaver, Brad Mellott, and Dylan Proctor completed the top 10.

Heat races for the 33 RaceSaver sprints on hand were won by Matt Tebbs, Dale Schweikert; Bard and Proctor. Duke won the B-Main.

2019 IMCA/RaceSaver National Champion Ken Duke was the race’s hard charger, with his seventh-place finish breaking a three-way tie for drivers who advanced an impressive 14 positions during the race. In the top five, Zionkowski moved up eight spots.

Next weekend, PASS has another double, racing Friday night at Lincoln Speedway and Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway. The Lincoln show is Night One of the Dirt Nationals for Central Pennsylvania Legends, while the RaceSaver sprints join the 410 sprints at Selinsgrove in the running of their Jim Nace Memorial National Sprint Car Open.
