9.21.19 Winchester Speedway Results

Winchester, VA- Warren Pa’s Dan Davies scored hid first career E-Mod feature win in last Saturday nights “Ernie D’s 40” at Winchester Speedway. The win for Davies, steering his David Stremme built no.71D, was worth a hefty $2500 payday and capped off a perfect night as he was the fast-timer and also won his qualifying event.
The re-draw placed Davies on the outside front row for the start of the event and he would make the most of his good fortune by leading all 40-laps. Eventual runner-up and 2019 Winchester track champion Mike Corbin chased Davies for the duration but was unable to overtake Davies for the lead. “The last time we raced here the track was black and slick and tonight it was wide open.” Davies stated in victory lane. “I knew Mike was getting close there at the end, so I pushed a little harder and was able to hold him off.” Davies victory would ease the teams long ride back home. “It took us five hours to get down here today, but this win sure will make the ride back a whole lot easier.”
“I’d like to thank David Stremme for building us a great race car and everyone on this team who helped us get the win tonight.” Mike Corbin was satisfied with his second place performance. “Dan drove a great race and congrats to him on the win.” Said Corbin. “We got close to him there at the end but he was a little better than us, but overall we’re happy with second.” 2018 Winchester champion Ray Kable was solid in third. “We had a good car tonight and third is a great run for us.” “My father is in the hospital and couldn’t be here tonight, so it means a lot to come home with a good run.” Hunter McClendon would take fourth with Justin Cullum completing the top-five. Heats for the 28 cars entered went to Cody Williams, Ray Kable, Mike Corbin and Dan Davies.
Danny Zechman took the lead on the fourth lap from Ricky Feltner and would lead the remaining 21 circuits to take the win in the 25-lap, $1000 to win, Pure Stock main. “After all the problems we had earlier in the night and to come back to win is just an awesome feeling.” Zechman stated post race. “Our car was really good in the feature, but it had a bad vibration just about the whole race, but it held together and this is a big win for our team.” 2019 track champion Jeremy Tinsman was second with Brad Ritter, Rob Nichols and Jonathan DeHaven rounding out the top-five. Heats for the 16 entrants went to Brad Ritter and Craig Parrill.
