9.6.20 Potomac Speedway Results

Budds Creek, MD- Andy Anderson came out on top in last Sunday’s 35-lap “Huey Wilcoxon Memorial” at Potomac Speedway. The win for Anderson, aboard his Bruce Kane owned Rocket no.25, was worth $3000 and it would mark his 2nd win of the season and career 11th at the Southern Maryland bull ring.
Kenny Moreland and Jason Miller brought the field to green with Miller taking charge at the start. Moreland then powered his way into the lead on the second lap and set sail, but his run would end as a flat tire on the 18th lap forced him to pit. Jamie Lathroum would then take the lead with 7th starting Dale Hollidge in second and went hard at it until the duo got together going into the first turn, resulting in a Lathroum spin and a flat tire for Hollidge. Andy Anderson was in the right place at the right time and would control the final three tours to post the win. “I’d rather be lucky than good and tonight we got lucky.” Anderson stated in victory lane. “I’d like to dedicate the win to my wife Tracy.” Anderson said fighting tears. “We got some bad news last week about her health and this win tonight is for her.” Trevor Collins, in his first ever Potomac Late Model start, took second with Nick Davis, Jamie Lathroum and Jason Miller rounding out the top-five. Heats for the 16 entries went to Miller and Moreland.
Elm City North Carolina’s Austin Holcombe took his first career Potomac win in his first ever start in the 20-lap E-Mod main. Lining up 6th for the start, Holcombe snared the race lead from Ray Kable Jr. on the 5th lap, and would drive off uncontested to take the breakthrough win. “This was well worth the 3 hour tow to get here, and to get the win our first time here is awesome.” Jimmy Jesmer Jr., Ray Kable Jr., Brandon Galloway and Chase Butler trailed at the finish. Heats for the 17 cars entered went to Jesmer and Mike Franklin.
In support class action, PJ Hatcher scored his third win in a career 11th in the 16-lap Street Stock feature, Colin Long posted his second win of 2020 in the 15-lap Hobby Stock main with Shawn Payne romping to his 4th of the season in the nightcap 15-lap U-Car headliner.
