It was a special night at Tri-County Race Track on Labor Day, as the annual running of the ‘Labor Day Championship’ also featured the inaugural running of the ‘Clarence Barnett Memorial’ for the Super Late Models. Local favorite David Payne came out on top of the 37-lap contest to earn the $3,437.38 top prize over a top five that consisted of runner-up Shawn Chastain, Danny Ledford, Jamie Oliver, and Kenny Collins. Jason Deal was also a big winner on the evening, as he pocketed a $1,500 paycheck in the Southeastern Late Model Sportsman Series showdown.
