9.7.19 Ventura Raceway Results

Saturday night, September 7th, saw a small field of cars and motorcycles take to Ventura’s 1/5 mile oval. Racing in three motorcycle classes and two car classes drivers went all out to go for the wins in their respective classes.

The California Lightning Sprints headlined the program with 12 cars in attendance. They ran two heat races with wins going to Dominic Del Monte in heat one and Jon Robertson in heat two. They then ran a special format for their feature event. They ran twin fifteen lap main events. The first was run to set the field for the final fifteen lap feature. Dominic Del Monte won the first fifteen lap race and pulled a six invert for the final fifteen lap race. The final fifteen lap race went to Jarrett Kramer over Cody Nigh, A J Bender, Aiden Lange and Doug Nunes. Kramer’s win was his fifth of the six Lightning Sprint races held at Ventura so far this season. Cody Nigh has the only other win here this year.

There were four VRA Senior Sprints in the pits Saturday night. They ran one heat race with the win going to Chris Meredith. Their twenty lap main event went to Wally Pankratz over Rick Hendrix, who ran Seniors Saturday night, Chris Meredith and Mike Cook. After 10 races in 2019, Wally Pankratz leads Chris Meredith by 5 points in the season long point race.

In motorcycle action, Adam Grabau won the 100-125 class Pit Bikes over Troy Sharp and Howdy Grabau. Howdy Grabau took their one heat race. In 150 and under Pit Bike competition, Jake Anderson took the win over Adam Grabau and Rory Guest. Jake Anderson took their one heat race. The final class racing Saturday was the 250-450 Motocross flat track bikes. Their 15 lap main went to John Tinsley over Ricky Gray and Ray Richards. Tinsley also won their one heat race.

Ventura Raceway returns to action next Saturday, September 14th, with the second visit in 2019 of the USAC Midgets who are preparing for their appearance at the 2019 Turkey Night Grand Prix in November. Also on hand will be VRA Senior Sprints, Dwarf Cars and IMCA Modifieds.
