8.8.15 Selinsgrove Speedway Results

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – TJ Stutts of Liverpool became the fourth and final leader before driving to his second win of the season in Saturday night’s 25-lap 360 sprint car main event at Selinsgrove Speedway.

Stutts, at the wheel of the Wise Motorsports No. 23, earned $2,000 for his 22nd career win at the track in 358-360 sprint car competition.

Gene Knaub of Dover powered to his first career win in super late model racing at Selinsgrove in the division’s 25-lap feature. Knaub is a former limited late model winner at the track.

Brad Mitch of McClure won his fourth race of the season in the 15-lap pro stock feature, while Dustin Snook also of McClure scored his second 12-lap roadrunner win in a row.

Selinsgrove Speedway will present the rescheduled Mach 1 Chassis National Open for 360 sprint cars plus super late models at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15. The Open will pay $10,000 to win out of a $35,000 purse for 360 sprint cars. Track gates will open at 5 p.m.

On the initial start of the sprint car feature, two-time winner Eric Tomacek flipped over in his racer in turn four. Tomacek escaped injury.

For the double-file restart, polesitter John Braim powered into the early lead. Braim was chased by sixth-place starter Cody Keller for the first two laps before Keller took the lead with an inside pass in turn one. At the same time, eighth-place starter Ryan Kissinger advanced to second while 10th-place starter Derek Locke raced in third.

At the halfway point, 12th-place starter TJ Stutts dueled with Locke for the third position. While pacing under caution on lap 19, Keller’s car developed a flat tire, forcing him to give up the lead. Kissinger inherited the front spot and led for a single lap until his car developed mechanical problems and stopped on the frontstretch.

Stutts took over the lead at Kissinger’s expense and drove to a 2.7 second margin of victory over Locke, ninth-place starter Jason Shultz, fifth-place starter Eric Parker, and 14th-place starter Nate Snyder.

Second-place starter Hayes Mattern pulled into the early lead in the super late model main event with polesitter Dave Brouse Sr. in pursuit. Fourth-place starter Jason Smith took over second on the second circuit as seventh-place starter Gene Knaub horsepowered his way into the third position.

On lap seven, Knaub drove into the runner-up position as ninth-place starter Matt Cochran moved into third. For several laps, Mattern and Knaub dueled for the lead. On the 11th lap, Knaub secured the front spot racing out of turn four. The next lap Cochran took over second and closed in on Knaub.

On a lap 20 restart, Cochran pulled alongside of Knaub and challenged for the lead. Knaub fought back and eventually opened up a 2.3 second margin to score the win over Cochran, 13th-place starter Chris Casner, 10th-place starter Dave Zona, and 12th-place starter Jeff Rine.

Polesitter Matt Wilson held off the challenges of third-place starter Dave Brouse Jr. for the first five laps of the pro stock feature. On the sixth circuit, Brouse took command of the field and had to contend with eighth-place starter Brad Mitch. Late in the race, fifth-place starter Kyle Bachman made it a close three-car battle at the front of the pack.

Racing into turn one on the 13th circuit, Brouse struck a slower car and ended his chances of a victory. Mitch took over the lead and held off Bachman by just .78 of a second for the win. Wilson, AJ Stroup, and Andrew Shoop completed the top five.

Second-place starter Dustin Snook wired the field for his second win of the season in the roadrunner main event. Snook was chased by third-place starter Bob Bussey for the entire distance. At the checkered flag, Snook was victorious by 5.25 seconds over Bussey, John Fowler Jr., Butch Shaffer, and Brandon Shultz.
