8.31.13 Selinsgrove Speedway Results

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills turned in a dominating performance for his first career victory at Selinsgrove Speedway Saturday night in the inaugural 40-lap “Showdown on Sand Hill” World of Outlaws Late Model Series event.

Satterlee, who became the ninth different late model winner at the track this season, earned $8,000 for his second career win with the World of Outlaws and sixth overall victory in 2013 at the wheel of the No. 22.

Jeff Rine of Danville was the Fast Tees Fast Qualifier over a field of 35 super late models with a lap of 19.266.

Nathan Long of Selinsgrove won his third race of the season in the 15-lap pro stock feature.

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series returns to Selinsgrove Speedway tomorrow (Sunday) night in the 15th Annual Jeff’s Auto Body & Recycling Center Late Model National Open. The 50-lap A-main will pay $10,000 to win and $700 to start. Joining the super late models on the racing card will be the limited late models at 7 p.m. Track gates will open at 4 p.m.

Polesitter and defending World of Outlaws champion Darrell Lanigan and second-place starter Gregg Satterlee dueled for the lead on the first lap of the main event. Lanigan pulled into the early lead with Satterlee in pursuit. By lap five, fifth-place starter Jeff Rine stormed into third and set his sights on the leaders.

At the quarter-way point of the race, Lanigan led over Satterlee, Rine, fourth-place starter Vic Coffey, and eighth-place starter Josh Richards. On the 15th circuit, a side-by-side battle unfolded again for the lead between Lanigan and Satterlee. A lap later, Satterlee took command of the field as Lanigan’s car slowed on the backstretch, bringing out the event’s first caution flag.

On the lap 17 restart, Coffey passed Rine for second. For the rest of the event, Richards chased Rine around the lightning-fast half-mile oval for the third position. With 10 laps to race, Satterlee began to encounter slower traffic but had already developed a straightaway lead. At the same time, Richards raced with Rine for third while seventh-place starter Rick Eckert tormented sixth-place starter Tim McCreadie for a top five position.

At the finish, Satterlee was victorious by 2.2 seconds over Coffey, Rine, Richards, and Eckert.

Polesitter Rob Baker led the first three laps of the pro stock feature until sixth-place starter Nathan Long pulled into the lead. Long was closely chased by 10th-place starter Troy Miller and eighth-place starter AJ Stroup for most of the event.

On the fourth circuit, current point leader Kyle Bachman and leading feature winner Brad Mitch got caught up in a tangle. When the race resumed, Long continued to set the pace as Miller and Stroup raced in his shadow. In the final laps, Mitch made a rebound from the rear of the field and drove into second on the final lap.

At the finish, Long was victorious by just .52 of a second over Mitch, T. Miller, Stroup, and Shaun Miller.
