5.25.18 Clinton County Speedway Results

The Spring Championship events at Clinton County Motor Speedway saw solid divisions of 5 classes. The track was in perfect racing condition. Smooth, wide and tacky throughout the entire evening. Many events went non stop with fast and close racing action. With over 24 – 270 Micros, thee heats determined the lineup for the feature. 1st heat went to Ross Perchak in the #4, 2nd heat to Quinn Roberts in the 43 take, 3rd heat won by #92 The Wild Child – Jeff Weaver. A full 24 car field started the 270 Micro feature. Troy Whitesel in his #17 lead the first lap, the second lap had Jeff Weaver take command. Ross perchak made his way to the front on lap 3, and dominated the remainder of the event. He held off several challengers, but hung on to take the Checkered and be crowned the winner of the Spring Championship for the 270 Micros. Jeff Weaver, Quinn Roberts, Troy Whitesel, and Denny Rinehimer rounded out the top five. In the Pro Stock division, the first heat was captured by A.Y. Schilling in the #28, the second heat saw Chris Snyder in the #31 take the checker. With the feature line up set via a Pill Pull, Chris Snyder started on the pole, with Tommy Dawson in his #16 outside front row. A.Y. Schilling pill pull placed him near the rear of the field. Lap 1 through 7 saw Tommy Dawson as the leader as he used the outside lane to get around the 3/8 high banked mile, with Noah Jensen following in his tire tracks. Mid-way, Noah took his #6 to the inside and slid by to take over the lead . With all the side by side racing up front, A.Y. Schilling was on the move. He started near the rear, and on lap 3 had a rear tire go down. He started last, and was now charging to the front. At the ‘five’ to go sign, Schilling powered by the Jensen car to take the lead. Earning the Spring Championship was A.Y. Schilling, second to Noah Jensen, the 8* of Kevin VanAmburg, Tommy Dawson, and Tom Dawson in the #747 rounded out the top five. The Micro 600’s had a full field of cars. Three heats needed. First heat went to the 85C of Josh Beamer, second heat winner was the #12 of Tom Fraschetta, third heat saw Mike Koehler in his #22K take the checker. With the pills drawn, the feature line up was set. Taking the green from the pole was the #95 of Garrett Bard. Bobby Sanso in the #20S dove low and passed several cars down the back stretch. Entering turn 3, with a crowded field, several cars spun . A few cars were damaged, and retired to the pits. Garrett Bard continued as the race leader. Running in clean air, he was able to fend off the challenges from a host of drivers. In victory lane bard said his #95 is an older version Hyper chassis. His team has won numerous feature events with this car. Proof positive, it takes driver talent and the right set up to be a winner. Bard claimed The Spring Championship with Josh Beamer, Jeff Weaver, Tom Fraschetta, and Tyler Snook finishing off the top five. As The Limited Late Models entered the track, Devin Weyandt in the #88 was on the pole, with Joe Lusk in second. Three car wide racing on the first lap, saw several cars getting together . Heavy damage to a number of cars, but no one hurt. As some retired to the pit area with their evening over early, others made hasty repairs to rejoin the rear of the field. Whitesel in his #88 took command from lap 2 through 7. The #2 of Andrew Yoder was able to slide low and lead Laps 8 through 12. Mr Smooth, Jim Yoder in the #42 was making his way through heavy traffic by using the outside lane. Almost tagging the wall, he kept marching forward. At midway, Jim powered his S&R Towing sponsored machine into the lead. From there he held off all challengers to earn The Spring Championship. Matt Cochran in the #16 finished 2nd, Andrew Yoder 3rd, with Weyandt in his #88 and Joe Lusk in the 20L rounding out the top five. Two heat races were on tap for the Front Wheel Drive cars. Using the pill draw for feature line up saw, John Bower in the #69 and the 2T of Tim Campbell on the front row. Campbell wasted no time is pushing the 2T to the front. Several cars were battling for position on every lap. Providing a lot of excitement . On lap 6, a couple cars touched coming off turn four. Kyle Workmans #2W turned and hit the outside wall head on. Kyle had been charging to the front and was at racing speed when it came to an instant stop. The red flag was displayed and the emergency crew rushed to his aid. With such and impact, we all feared for Kyle’s safety. The emergency crew was able to assist Kyle from his mangled car. Kyle was badly shaken, but was able to walk to the ambulance. The crowd sighed a collective relief and gave him a nice round of applause . Hopefully Kyle will soon rebuild or secure another car and be back racing at the high banks of the Clinton County Motor Speedway. Once racing resumed, Campbell powered the 2T to victory over the #6 of Eric Luzere, followed by the #4 of Cody Stover, the #115 of Tony Hubbler and rounding out the top five of #31 Roy Orndorf. All feature winners received extra pay plus a Huge Spring Championship trophy sponsored by S&R Repairs and G&R Excavating . Four beautiful bicycles were given out to four lucky young children. Every child in attendance was given a ticket to place in a box of the bicycle they hoped to win. Tickets were drawn and four happy youngsters claimed their prize. These Bicycles were sponsored by Strouse Electric of Howard PA. Serving Central PA for over 25 years. The evenings 50/50 winner took home $568 in cold hard cash. A beautiful evening of family fun and fast racing was had at The Clinton County Motor Speedway.
