Lock Haven, PA- Jim Yoder ( LLM) continued his winning ways Friday Night July 13 at Clinton County Motor Speedway. Yoder was joined by repeat winners Bobby Sanso, (270 Micro Sprints), Garret Bard, (600 Micro Sprints), and Tim Campbell, ( front wheel drive 4 Cyl. Stock cars).
There was also a new winner that’s no stranger to victory lane. Hollidaysburg’s Ryan Lynn claimed his first Laurel Highlands Sprint Series victory of the season at the fairgrounds oval.
The 3/8 mile oval was smooth, fast and tacky. Racing was intense with a couple of scares along the way.
Yoder dominated late model action by starting on the pole and leading all 25 laps of the feature.
Jeremy Ohl chased Yoder the first six laps before sliding high off turn two giving up two positions in the process. Ohl was by far the most exciting driver of the main eventually suffering a flat tire on lap 19 which sent him to the pit area. Ohl rebounded for a fifth place finish.
Kevin Probst attempted to overtake Yoder and also ran his mount to the ragged edge in an attempt to grab the lead. Probst gave way to Andrew Yoder on lap 13 and remained there the remainder of the race. At the finish it was the Yoder’s out front followed by Probst, Mike Smith and Ohl. Sixth through tenth were Gary Mellott, Tim Luben, John Myers, JR Toner and Luke Hoffner.
Heat races for the 15 car field were won by Probst and Jim Yoder.
Bobby Sanso scored his second straight 270 micro sprint main over Troy Whitesel. Skeetz Hockenbrock jumped into the lead on lap one after starting on the pole.
Sanso, who started second, wasted no time running down the leader taking control on lap 2.
The race was under red flag conditions for a two car mishap in turn one during lap 10. Jerrod Heil and Mitchell Holden were involved. Neither driver was injured.
Sanso restarted in the lead with Hockenbrock second. Troy Whitesel took over the second spot after the red flag period on lap 11. Sanso, and Whitesel remained in front and were joined by Nicolas Whitesel on lap 11. The trio were followed by Denny Rinehimer and Hockenbrock to the checkered flag. Sixth through tenth were Lance Spotts, Gary Keister, Shaun Musser, Mathew Dixson and Daniel Wertman.
Heat races were won by 12 year old Timmy Bittner and Rinehimer. There were 18 cars.
In 600 micro sprint action Garrett Bard continued his winning ways scoring victory no. three this season. Bard led every lap enroute to the win. Ben Hout and Jake Hummel swapped second and third place through out the event before Hout claimed second for the final time on lap 11. The top five was Bard, Hout, Hummel, Josh Beamer and Jeff Guyina. Sixth through tenth were Skeetz Hockenbrock, Shelby Rowles, Chad Waite, Derek Swartz, and Dermot Thompson.
Bard and Hummel won heat races. There were 16 cars.
Ryan Lynn of Hollidaysburg, PA won the Laurel Highlands 305 sprint car feature over Dakota Schweikart. Ken Duke finished third with last weeks winner Scott Lutz fourth. Tyler Cochran was fifth. Sixth through tenth were Reed Thompson, Nate Gramley, Joe Davis, Jacob Gamola, and Kyle Ganoe. Heat races were won by Schweikart and Lutz.
There were 19 cars.
Lynn won the 305 feature using an older low budget engine with parts on his race car that were ten plus years old.
In front wheel drive four cylinder stock car action Tim Campbell visited the winners circle for the fourth time this season. Campbell was chased to the checkered flag by Adam Campbell and Eric Luzier. John Bower and Matt Sanders completed the top five. Sixth through tenth included Allen Bruss, Roy Orndorf, Cody Stover, Larry Beachel and Kyle Workman.
Tim and Adam Campbell won heat races.
The feature was red flagged on lap 11 for a hard door impact crash involving Larry Beachel and Roy Orndorf. Both drivers were ok.
Clinton County Motor Speedway returns to action Friday July 20 when the Mason Dixon 358 late model series visits the oval. Also on the program are the pro stocks, 270 & 600 micro sprints and front wheel drive 4 cyl. Stock cars.
Gates open at 5 pm. With racing at 7:30.
