Sarver, PA (July 17, 2018) Kyle Larson was as fast as he needed to be in his winning performance in the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup on Tuesday night at The Action Track. The California native took a night off from his NASCAR preparations to bring his entertaining brand of driving to a packed grandstand and did not disappoint in treating the fans on hand to thrilling performance.

Former track champion Tim Shaffer started on the pole and led the first four laps while behind him, Ian Madsen, Brad Sweet, and Larson jockeyed for position. Brandon Spithaler then brought out the caution flag for the only time on the night with his spin off the top of turn two. When action resumed, Larson got off to a good start and made his way around sweet while Madsen took the lead from Shaffer. Larson dispatched the second running Shaffer and then set his sights on the leader as he and Madsen traded the lead with a series of slide jobs and crossovers with Larson taking the lead for good on lap eight as he came out of turn four with a slight advantage and made it a firm lead just past the flag stand.

Larson was smooth in maneuvering through several rounds of lapped traffic and was in firm command of the field through the next 20 laps while coming through the field from his ninth starting spot was Donny Schatz. The current World of Outlaws points leader managed to make his way to the third spot while Sweet began pressuring Larson for the lead, managing to shave tenths of seconds off of Larson’s advantage on every lap in the final 10 circuits. Sweet and Schatz were able to draw even closer in the final three laps, but ran out of time.

“I had a really good line through three and four and I was able to get runs on everybody in front of me and then in traffic,” Larson said. “In the last handful of laps, it just got a little too slick under that piece of moisture I was running earlier and I knew they were coming. These outlaw races are so tough to win. It’s been a long time since I’ve won an outlaw race in the 57.”

The victory was Larson’s first with the World of Outlaws in 2018 and the first in several years behind the wheel of the Paul Silva Motorsports entry. The Outlaws will return to Lernerville Speedway on Saturday, September 22 for the $10,000 to win Commonwealth Clash.
