4.13.19 Winchester Speedway Results

Winchester, VA- Milton Delaware’s Robbie Emory scored his first career Winchester feature win in last Saturday nights 30-lap Limited Late Model main. The win for Emory, worth $1250, came steering his familiar Swartz chassis no.9E with a family prepared Emory’s Racing Engines power plant under the hood.

The heads up start found Emory and Scott Palmer on the front row for the initial green flag of the event. Emory would eventually pace all 30-circuits but would have to survive numerous caution periods and a late race surge from eventual runner up Jonathan DeHaven to preserve the break through win. “When we first started racing with the Limited’s we came here quite often and I know we’ve finished second at least 7 or 8 times.” Emory stated in victory lane. “It feels great to finally get our first win here.” Last Saturday’s winner Derick Quade was third, 9th starting James Lichliter took 4th with former champion Wesley Bonebrake rounding out the top-five. Heats went to Emory, Palmer and Bonebrake.

Dale Hollidge prevailed in the companion 25-lap RUSH Crate Late Model contest breaking Logan Robersons 2-race win streak. Hollidge darted from the pole and would lead the distance scoring the win in his Rocket no.0. “We came here to get some seat time for the Battle of the Bay races next week.” Hollidge remarked. “There’s a lot of good cars and drivers in this class and we need to be ready when the tour guys come next week.” Logan Roberson, Billy Beachler, 13th starting Devin Brannon and Levi Crowl would complete the top-five. Heats went to Beachler and Hollidge.
Brad Kling drove to a thrilling win in the 20-lap Mid-Atlantic Modified feature. Kling, who lined up 7th for the start, clawed through the field to overhaul race long leader Hunter McClendon on the 16th lap and would lead the final 4 tours to post the win. “On that last re-start Hunter left us just enough room on the bottom and we were able to get by him.” Said Kling. “This is a great way to start the season and a big thanks to everyone who helps.” Justin Cullum came on late for 2nd, McClendon took 3rd with Ray Kable Jr. and Mike Corbin filling the front five. Heats went to Mike Corbin and Alyssa Rowe.

In support class action, Ethan Ours became the 3rd different winner of 2019 with his victory in the 15-lap Pure Stock feature in his first start of the season, Hunter Diehl drove to his first career track and club win in the 30-lap Xcel 600 Modified main with Jeff Wilkins scoring his first of the season in the nightcap 15-lap U-Car feature.
