Jason Schultz completely dominated the URC event to take the big win Friday night at Bedford. In almost the same manner, George Dixon was a dominant winner in the Limited event. In other action, Bob Jay took the Semi Late win, Ryan Peer won yet another 4 Cylinder feature and Kyle Deneen held off a challenge to score the Pure Stock win.
Jason Schultz started on the front row of the 25 lap URC event. He got the drop on the field at the start and never looked back. Jordan Thomas and Josh Weller gave chase early but they fell further behind as Schultz streaked away. By the time of the event’s only caution when Chad Layton stopped on lap 23, Schultz was almost a half lap ahead.
Schultz continued to dominate after the restart and romped to the convincing win. Thomas held off Weller for second, ahead of Justin Borger and Derek Locke. Weller and Layton won the heats.
The late race caution for Layton was only the second caution for the group in the 75 laps during their three visits in 2019.
Kadden Smith was the early Limited event leader but George Dixon shot by on lap three. After that, much like Scultz had earlier, Dixon ran off to a dominating win. Clinton Hersh and Taylor Farlling both got by Smith on lap five and battled for the duration, but Dixon was clearly the class of the field, running off after each of the four cautions to score his second consecutive Bedford win.
Hersh held off Farlling for second, followed by Tyler Ritchey and Travis Wilson. Dixon also won the earlier heat for the class.
Kyle Weyandt led the first few Semi Late laps but Bob Jay boomed into contention moving from 6th starting spot to the lead on lap three. Although the early laps were chaotic, featuring four cautions in the first two laps, the field settled down with Jay up front. Travis Calhoun and Mark Patterson both got by Weyandt on lap nine and Calhoun closed dramatically on Jay, but Jay held on to win by a car length.
Patterson, Chubby Childers and Jason Gilliland trailed the leading pair. Jay and one of the first lap crash victims Bill Replogle won the heats.
Barry Weyandt led the first Pure Stock lap before Kyle Deneen got by. Deneen pulled out to a lead as Weyandt held off Josh Frankenberry and Nick Bechtel as that group ran in a pack. Frankenberry and Bechtel both got by Weyandt on lap 10 and both instantly closed on the leader as the laps wound down, but Deneen held on for the win.
Frankenberry narrowly beat Bechtel for second, ahead of Charlie Clise and laura Chamberlain. Deneen and Bechtel won the heats.
The first few 4 Cylinder laps were chaotic but Justin Williamson who started 7th in the field led the first completed lap. Eighth starter Ryan Peer joined Williamson at the front and took over on lap five.
Peer then stretched out to a comfortable lead to score the win. Josh Ringer slipped by Williamson on the last lap to take second. Wayne Brenize and Jay Talley completed the top five. Peer and Ringer won the heats.
