Saturday August 3rd 2019 | 411 Motor Speedway Results | Tennessee

It was back to racing at Tennessee’s Action Track with the Sportsman taking center stage for a big $1,000 to win feature.

The Classic Cars were up first for a 20 lap feature. Will Carey set fast time in qualifying earning the pole for the feature. The green waved and Carey took the top spot ahead of Michael Milsap, Lee Merritt, Shane Taylor and Tim Bounds your top five. Merritt has had the dominant car most all season but seemed to have missed the setup somewhat as he lost a little ground to the leaders early on. Mac Lockhart started at the rear of the pack but was set on go as he began picking them off one by one. Tim Bounds and Merritt would get together in turn two bringing out the caution. Both drivers would continue on without any damage. Lockhart continued picking his way up through the field until he had gotten up into the second spot. Coming off turn four it was a drag race to the finish with leader Will Carey but Lockhart inched him out in a photo finish.

Next up was the 20 lap Street Stock feature. One of the pre race favorites was Shawn Henry in his #25 but he failed to make the call on the start opening the door for a new winner. Point leader Steve Owens took the lead as the green waved with Brandon Johnson, Danny Tullock, and Jacob Taylor rounding out the field. The top two quickly pulled away from Tullock and Taylor who battled it out for the third spot. Johnson would make his move taking the lead away on lap 19 but coming off turn four Owens got a great run and beat him back to the line to pick up the win.

Next up was the $1,000 to win 30 lap Sportsman feature. Matt Tharp would start on the front row coming off a big win his last race at 411. Tharp took control on the start with Brandon Miller, Jake Whitehead, Jed Emert and Bradley Lewelling in chase. Miller had his car setup just right as he worked the low line under the leader immediately on the start. Emert and Whitehead had a great battle for the third spot behind the top two as the early laps ticked off. Clyde Stanton already has multiple wins and the point lead but wasn’t having the best night as he looked to have been a little off. The yellow would wave for the #2 of Josh Walker who was making his season debut at the 4-1-1. Back under green and Miller made his move taking the lead away from Tharp. Tharp would also lose the runner up spot but would get it back by the end of the race. Up front it was all Miller who pulled away to pick up his first win of the season.

Mosley put his #89 on the top of the charts with Tinch, Wayne James, point leader Jimmy Dalton and Terry James the top five drivers. Billy Palmer moved past Rick Standridge to try and work his way up into the top five early on. James and Dalton would also put on a great show for the packed crowd as they fought it out for the third spot. Dalton would put some distance on James and set his sights on the top two chewing into their lead. Lap traffic would come into play tightening up the top three. A caution for Standridge would slow the pace as the #10 came to a stop in turn four. The night would be over for him as he was towed off the track.
