9.7.19 Davenport Speedway Results

by Mike McGuire
DAVENPORT, Ia. (September 7, 2019) – A somewhat soggy Night of Destruction was completed Saturday night at the Davenport Speedway. Cheater Races in four classes and the crowd favorite, the Trailer Race were on the agenda. Due to the approaching rain showers, only feature races were held in the stock car classes.

Another Cheater’s Race and another Modified win for Bob Dominacki. In a steady drizzle, Dominacki led all twenty laps and lapped up to the seventh place finisher. However it was still a battle for “the Dominator” as he had a left rear go flat with three laps to go, but still held on for the win.
Derrick Carlson drove from the eleventh starting spot to finish second. Chris Morefield took third, ahead of Josh Starr and Rob Dominacki.

The rain started falling during the SportMod feature that was won by Doug Burkhead. Chance Huston grabbed the early race lead from the pole and held it until lap thirteen, when Burkhead cruised by on the high side. Huston held on for second, ahead of Aaron Hitt in third. Brandon Jewell and Logan Veloz rounded out the top five.

Jeff Struck Jr. returned to victory lane in the Street Stock main. After starting seventh, Struck passed Jesse Owen for the lead on lap eight. Struck led the rest of the way to the checkers, followed by Owen. Joe Bonney charged to a third place finish. Rick Schriner and Denny Anton were fourth and fifth respectively.

4-Stocks were first to take to the track. Dustin Frymoyer led flag to flag and grabbed his first Davenport win. Norm Marcov finished second, followed by Brad Rhoades, Brad McDermott, and Ashley Reuman, in that order.

Midwest Jalopies were the guest class with Mitch Way taking the win. Dennis Blunt took second and Jeff Blunt third.

The slippery track made for tons of fun in the Trailer Race. In the end, the crowd declared Mike Hulsing of Davenport the winner in his “Toy Story” entry. Prior to the start, the crowd chose Kris Dunbar and his “Cookie Monster” entry as the crowd favorite.

Next up for DRT TRAK Racing is Modified Madness at West Liberty Raceway, on Friday, September 20th. Modifieds will race for a $2,000 top prize and SportMods will compete for $1,000-to-win. For more information, visit “drttrakracing.com” or DRT TRAK Racing Inc.,
