9.14.19 USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets Results
Montpelier, Indiana (September 14, 2019)………Stratton Briggs swept the weekend with his second straight USAC Midwest Thunder Speed2 Midget feature victory in as many nights with Saturday’s win at Indiana’s Montpelier Motor Speedway, his fourth of the year.
Briggs (Anna, Ohio), who won the night before at Gas City I-69 Speedway, took over the lead from series point leader Aaron Leffel at the halfway point of Saturday’s 20-lap main event, and led the final 10 laps for the victory over Michael Magic, Leffel, Josh Chess and Tom Hessel.
Briggs gained six points on Leffel toward the season championship race with two events remaining, Sept. 21 in Montpelier, Ind. and on Oct. 5 at Gas City, Ind. Two-time and defending series champion Leffel now leads Briggs by just 19 points.
