4.23.21 Potomac Speedway Results
April 23, 2021 Budds Creek, MD- Derick Quade was again the class of the field as he took his second consecutive win in the 20-lap Limited Late Model headliner last Friday night at Potomac Speedway. The win for Quade, steering his Longhorn no.74, would be his overall 33rd career win at Potomac for the defending division champion.
The redraw placed Quade on the pole for the start of the event and he would make the most of it by pacing all 20-circuits. Eventual runner up Kyle Lear got to second on the 9th lap and would chase Quade for the duration, but would fall two car lengths short at the stripe. “The crew gave me another great car here tonight and we wouldn’t be here without them.” Quade stated post race. “We still have some tweaking to do on this car because we think we can get it better.” Billy Tucker, Chuck Cox and Brian Hankins completed the top five. Heats went to Lear and Quade.
In the companion 20-lap RUSH Crate Late Model feature, 2020 track champion Jeremy Pilkerton drove to his 2nd win of the season aboard his Rocket no.8. Pilkerton and last week’s RUSH tour winner Kyle Hardy waged hand to hand combat during the contest with Pilkerton prevailing for his 5th career class victory. “Kyle is one of the best in the business and I knew we had to beat him to the front first if we had a chance to win.”
Joey Love, Chuck Bowie and Timmy Booth trailed at the finish. Heats went to Hardy and Pilkerton.
Winchester invader Mike Grady Jr. started on the pole and would lead every lap of the 15-lap Street Stock main, collecting the $200 bounty on PJ Hatcher. As Grady lead, Hatcher climbed from his 7th starting spot to challenge, but would fall one spot short at the finish, ending his incredible 10-race win streak. Defending champion Deuce Wright was third with Marty Hanbury and Dylan Rutherford rounding out the top five.
In support class action, Defending division champion Buddy Dunagan took his first win of the season in another thrilling 15-lap Hobby Stock feature, Justin Hatcher ended Greg Mattingly’s three race win streak with his first win of the season in the 15-lap Strictly Stock feature with Terry Hartlaub scoring his first career track win in the nightcap 15-lap Roadster contest.
