Barry Miller wins Walls Tribute LMS Race, Jeremy Tinsman scores last lap pass to win Pure Stocks, Trevor Larrick leads every lap in Hobby Stock win, and Ray Love Jr. scores the victory in Crate Late Models
The 21 of Jakob Piper took the early lead and led for the first half of the race in the Late Model Sportsman event. Once he got to lap traffic, the 88 of Barry Miller caught and passed Piper. A caution came out just at the right time for Piper and he retook his lead back because the lap wasn’t completed. Miller took the lead for good on the restart and cruised to victory.
“Man, track position was everything for me tonight,” Miller said. “Lapped traffic really helped me tonight and that was the difference. It’s really special to win this race to say the least.”
Jeremy Tinsman wins in a thriller in Pure Stocks after passing Cody Kershner in the last corner. Kershner charged to the front early after starting fifth but could not hold off Tinsman in the end.
“I didn’t think our car was good in the beginning,” Tinsman said. “I started going to the top groove and that made our car a lot faster. I have never done a slide job in my life, and tonight it paid off.”
Trevor Larrick won a wild Hobby Stock Feature. The race saw six cautions, including a big four car pileup in turn one on the first lap that involved Scot Sipes, who was undefeated in the class going into the night. The 30-minute time limit came into effect at the end after multiple cautions plagued the event. Larrick won under the caution flag.
“We’ve been waiting a long time for this to happen,” Larrick said. “I wouldn’t be here without my sponsors. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to do this.”
Ray Love Jr. took the checkered flag in the Crate Late Model event. After a piece from the left front fender came loose early in the event, he still was able to keep great pace and pulled away to the easy victory.
“We missed the setup big time but thankfully our car took off on when I got up on the cushion,” Love Jr. said. “We had that body damage early, but we still managed to get the victory and that’s all I care about.”
The Interstate Battery Hard Charger Award is awarded to the driver who gains the most positions in the Pure Stock and Late Model Sportsman’s Divisions. Keith Koontz gained 15 positions in the Late Model division and Zachary Myers gained seven positions in Pure Stocks.
All of us at the Hagerstown Speedway would like to thank the Walls Family for putting on this incredible race every year. We look forward to doing it again in 2022.
