8.7.21 Stateline Speedway Results

Busti, NY (Aug 7, 2021) by Marc Hoegerl: Fans were treated to another action filled evening of racing, as well as Stateline’s ever so popular Autograph Night. With all the threatening weather in the surrounding area, Stateline had no problem getting in night #12 of the 2021 campaign. The evening would see Dave Hess Jr. continue his dominance after last week’s heartbreaker to score his 8th Super Late win of the season. Michael McGee would show the way in the very competitive UMP Modified main, Darrell Bossard would find victory lane once again in the RUSH Crate Late Models, Gary Fisher would come home victorious in the wild Penn-Ohio Pro Stock Class A-Main, Andrew Proper won a thriller in the Challenger division, and Dennis Lunger would win the nights finale in the RUSH Pro Mods.

In the Super Late Model main event, Kyle Scott and Veteran Greg Oakes would bring the 20 car field to green. Oakes would take the lead with Scott, and Dave Hess in tow. With Oakes out front, Hess would make an outside move on Scott on lap 3 to take the 2nd spot. Oakes and Hess would put on another classic duel for the next 6 laps, until Hess would take the point on lap 9. Hess would find clean air as Oakes remained in the bridesmaid spot. As laps were counting down, a fierce battle was taking place between Kyle Scott and Darrell Bossard. Bossard would finally grab 3rd from Scott on lap 16 and stay there for good. Hess would find clean air in front of him to go the remaining distance uncontested. Oakes would take home 2nd, Bossard 3rd, Ryan Scott would nip Kyle Scott at the line for 4th, as Kyle Scott would settle for 5th.

In the 24 car UMP Modified Headliner, Michael McGee and Zach Johnson would set the pace. McGee and Johnson would head into turn 1 even. Johnson would then pull McGee as they came down the front stretch for lap 1. Johnson would lead the stalking McGee, until McGee would take the top spot on lap 7. McGee would hold the point for the next two laps. A determined Cale Crocker would make his move around McGee on the lap 9 restart. 12th starter Dave Hess would finally crack the top five on lap 12, then move into 4th on lap 14, setting his sights on 3rd place runner Joel Watson. McGee would make his winning move around Crocker on lap 15, as he would hold on the remaining 5 laps to score the win in the action packed event that saw four lead changes amongst three drivers. Crocker came home 2nd, Joel Watson rode home 3rd, Hess, and Troy Johnson would round out the top five.

The RUSH Crate Late Model feature would see Khole Wanzer take the lead at the drop of the green. Wanzer would lead the first lap until he would relinquish the top spot to Darrell Bossard on lap 2. On lap 3, 12th starter Jason Genco would crack the top five after a series of cautions. While Genco was making his bid toward the front, 11th starter Scott Gurdak would make his way into the top five mix on lap 4. Genco would be sent to the tail during the lap 5 caution for making contact with Chad Schauers. Bossard would once again move out to a comfortable lead and would be named victor as the race was called on lap 12 for exceeding the time limit. The event saw nine cautions in the 12 lap stretch. With Bossard bringing home his 3rd RUSH Crate Late Model win of 2021. Wanzer, Gurdak, Ward Schell, and Steve Dixon rounded out the top five.

In the wild Penn-Ohio Pro Stock main, Jeremy Perry would take the lead as the field saw the green. The running order would be, Perry, William Reeves, and Jason Covey for the first 4 laps. On lap 5, 9th place starter Gary Fisher would move into 2nd and set his sights on the leader, Perry. On lap 7 the top three of Perry, Fisher, and John Boardman would go three-wide for the lead as they crossed the flag stand. Fisher would find his momentum to grab the lead, as Boardman would take over the second spot on the same lap. As Fisher was continuing his pace, Joe Stajnrajh would make his way into the runner-up spot on lap 13. Fisher would secure the lead for the remaining 2 laps to score the win. Stajnrajh rode home second, Boardman 3rd, Jason Black 4th, and Reeves rounded out the top five.

In the 20 car Challenger feature, Andrew Proper would set the pace for the first 4 laps, with 2nd place runner, Chris Horton pulling even with leader almost every lap, until taking over the point on lap 5. Horton and Proper would pull even again for their bid for the lead on lap 6, until the caution waved for Holden Heineman. As the race resumed there was a lot of position swapping for 2nd through 4th that would go on for the next 4 laps. Brandon Huffman would take over 2nd on lap 8, and John Mease would make his way into 3rd around the fading Proper. Horton would go the rest of the way unscaved to pick up a much deserved victory. Huffman, Mease, Proper, and Rick Feely would round out your top five.

The RUSH Pro Mods would be the nights final event to take the speedway. At the start, longtime racer, Dennis Lunger would pull the field from his pole position. For the first 3 laps the race would see a great three car battle between Lunger, Greg Johnson, and Adam Ashcroft. As the leaders hit the lap 5 mark, Lunger found himself some breathing room, as the battle for 2nd was still taking place, between, Johnson and Ashcroft. With Lunger setting his own pace out front, Steve Dixon would take the 3rd spot from Ashcroft on lap 12, but Ashcroft would return the favor one lap later. On lap 17 with Lunger on cruise control, there was a fierce battle going on for the runner-up spot between Ashcroft, Dixon, and Johnson. On lap 18, during the intense three car battle, Johnson would make contact with Dixon, sending Dixon to a stop in turn three to bring out the event’s first and only caution. As the race would get back underway, Lunger would lead the final two circuits to grab the win, followed by Ashcroft, Johnson, Al Brewer and Tyler Oakes.
