9.1.24 Bedford Speedway Results

Ian Cumens made his long tow to Bedford a happy one as he snared the 305 feature at the track Sunday night. Other action featured the last point races for each class and the titles were decided. Bill Replogle took the Semi Late win, George Dixon took the Limited event, Denver Dishong hung on to win the Pure Stock race and Chris Graybill took the 4 Cylinder finale.

Mike Alleman took the first lap lead in the 305 event which was slowed, then stopped on lap two for a wild six car crash in turn one. In the mayhem, Jay Fry flipped and Josh Spicer tipped while the others spun or crashed wildly, causing an extended red flag session.

On the restart, Alleman continued to lead but Cumens was coming fast. He took second from Shelby Kelley on lap 8 and immediately closed on the leader. When the event was slowed again on lap 11, Cumens had his chance. He zoomed around Alleman for the lead and then ran off for the win.

Jarrett Cavalet got by Alleman for second on lap 15 but he never closed on Cumens, chasing him to the finish. Alleman hung on for third, followed by Logan Spahr and Owen Dimm. Kelley, Dylan Shatzer and Donnie Hendershot won the heats.

George Dixon was the pole sitter and early Limited event leader, but his lead was never secure. In an event which became a caution fest, Dixon was seriously hounded early by Spike Moore. Lap after lap Moore made moves on Dixon before he began to fade by about halfway. But Dixon was unable to rest easy as Kyle Hardy had roared in from the middle of the pack and took up where Moore had left off.

Beginning on lap 12, Hardy tried high and low but Dixon fended off every attempt. Hardy actually got the lead for a few feet on lap 16 with a perfect slider in turn 1 but Dixon again prevailed and hung on the last 4 laps to score the win.

At the finish it was Dixon followed by Hardy, Moore, DJ Myers and Clinton Hersh. Moore and Myers won the heats. Just by starting the feature, Shawn Shoemaker won the 2024 track title over Devin Weyandt.

The Semi Late event started off wildly as much of the field piled up in turn one. Eliminated in that crash were both the top two in the final point standings, Kyle Deneen and Khi Swanger. dimming their hopes.

When things got started, Bill Replogle took the early lead, hounded by Bob Jay. Late in the event Dave Brown joined Jay in the chase but Replogle prevailed for the win. Jay, Brown, Nick Bechtel and Kyle Weyandt trailed. Jay and Brown won the heats. With both Swanger and Deneen out of the action, Bechtel leapt them both and ended up as the Semi Late champion.

Kyle Beckett was the early Pure Stock leader but Denver Dishong was all over him by lap 2. Finally on lap 5 Dishong made a successful move and took over Beckett took up the chase harrassing Dishong but spun on lap14 causing the caution.

On the one lap shootout, Dishong held on over new second place runner Dalton Weyant to score the win. Braydale Bauman, Derrick Hinish and Chubby Childers trailed. Childers and Darian Ritchey won the heats. Weyant, by finishing those few spots ahead of Childers scored just enough points to claim the title.

It took 3 tries to get the 4 Cylinder event underway. but when it started it was a barn burner at the front. Colin Welsh was the early leader but he attracted a crowd. Isaac Kormanski led the early charge but Chris Graybill got by both Kormanski and Welsh on lap 8 and ran to the win.

Behind Graybill at the finish were Kormanski, Tom Brady, Darren Howsare and Javid Fairall. Kormanski and Todd Price won the heats. Just by starting the feature, Shawn Smith clinched the 4 Cylinder title.
