Gregg Satterlee started off his holiday weekend in a big way with the win at Bedford Friday night. The win, second of the season and 7th of his Bedford career came in the annual Milt Miller tribute event and with the purse and contingency awards was worth over $5000. In other action, Nick Bechtel was the surprise Semi Late winner, Kyle Beckett held off repeated challenges for the Pure Stock win and occasional visitor Javid Fairall came from deep in the field to take the 4 Cylinder win.

Satterlee started second in the 35 lap Late Model event and he jumped in right behind early leader Dillon Stake at the start. Although many figured that Stake would be an early victim, Stake held off repeated challenges from Satterlee early.

While the front two were battling, Rick Eckert and track point leader Jeff Rine were charging forward. Eckert got by third place runner Drake Troutman on lap 7, just before the first caution flew for Bryan Bernheisel. During that event, Troutman suddenly retired from the race, allowing Eckert and Rine to have a clear shot at the leaders.

But Stake again got away on the restart and held off Satterlee several more laps. Satterlee finally got by on lap 11 Eckert got by Stake a lap later and set off after the new leader, closing slightly each lap, until he suffered a flat tire on lap 18 and pitted. That returned Stake to the chasing position and, after shaking off Rine, he set off after Satterlee. Rine found himself defending his spot from Matt Cosner, who had rallied from his 11th starting position.

As the second half of the event ran off, Satterlee found his form, and opened up a 5 second advantage over Stake at the finish. Rine held off Cosner for third. Jason Covert, Andy Haus and Dan Angellichio battled hard for the fifth spot before finishing in that order at the end. Colby Frye, Matt Sponaugle and Kyle Lee completed the top ten.

Jeff Rine had set fast time and easily won the first heat. Rick Eckert and Satterlee were also heat winners.

Tony Catlett, who had severely damaged his Semi Late car in the last event, returned with a second car and that led to both happiness and sadness. Catlett started in the front row and took the early lead. Jesse Snyder arrived at the front and challenged seriously with the pair often getting side by side. This battle allowed Bill Replogle Brian Weyandt Jr and Nich Bechtel to arrive and make it a serious battle at the front.

That trio traded third position several times before Replogle broke free and ran down Snyder. After getting by Snyder, Replogle gave Catlett fits at the front but eventually was repassed by Bechtel with three laps to go. Bechtel made a run at Catlett but fell short at the line.

But Catlett’s happiness was short lived as this car, while legal elsewhere, was found not exactly Bedford legal, passing the win to Bechtel. Replogle, Weyandt Jr, Kyle Weyandt and John Miller completed the top 5, Catlett and Weyandt Jr won the heats.

Kyle Beckett started in the Pure Stock event on the pole and was the early leader. But he drew a large crowd at the front and they all challenged. Things got wild on lap 7 as Cody Jarvie got sideways in turn one and it turned into a 5 car melee.

On the restart, Beckett held off first Kyle Deneen, then Dalton Ritchey and finally Dalton Weyant and doggedly held on. At the finish, Weyant made one more move but fell short as Beckett rushed for the win. Charlie Clise and Denver Dishong snuck in late to take third and fourth while Deneen was fifth. Clise and Deneen won the heats.

Occasional Bedford visitor Javid Fairall went from sixth to first on the first lap and then ran off with the 4 Cylinder event which ran straight through all green, Shawn Smith came from deep in the field to take second but he never closed on Fairall. Devin Iser was third followed by Todd Price and Luke Hribar. Price and Fairall won the heats.
