It was a day celebrating those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy our freedoms. It was also the race paying tribute to the late Scott Sexton, one of the best drivers in the Tennessee region.
Rusty Ballenger has really picked up the pace in 2021 and the hot streak continued as he set fast time in qualifying earlier in the day. The green waved over the stacked field with Ballenger putting his #29 on point ahead of Matt Henderson, Eli Beets, Jesse Lowe and Adam Ahl. The low line was the place to be as Beets powered past Henderson into the runner up spot. The top two began to inch away from the pack but the racing was intense throughout the pack. Trouble for the #00 of Carson Ferguson who slowed on the backstretch and pulled off early. It was a fantastic battle between the #98 of Jed Emert and last years JT Kerr Memorial winner Greg Martin as they fought for position just outside the top five. The leaders quickly found themselves in slower traffic as they tried to pick their way through. Ballenger would hang on to pick up his first win at 411 in 2021.

The Open Wheel division was up next for the 20 lap feature. A lot of fans at the 4-1-1 might not be familiar with Cole Falloway but that was about to change as the youngster set fast time in qualifying. The green waved and trouble showed it’s face early as the #14 of Lee Merritt and the #2 of Dakota Curry went for a spin in turn two setting up a restart. Back under green and Falloway was set on go as he took the lead with Michael Asbery, Peyton Harlow and David Clark in pursuit. As Falloway began to pull away from the pack the fight was on in the top five as David Clark and Brandon Kinzer battled it out. Trouble for the 3 of Kaleb Trent who spun bringing out a caution on lap 14. The yellow wouldn’t be done for the night as Merritt and the #26 of Andy Ogle tangled in turn two. Merritt had pretty heavy damage and would pull off short of the finish. Falloway would hold on to pick up his first ever win at 411.

Next up was the 52 lap $10,052 to win Scott Sexton Memorial for the Southern Nationals Super Late Models series. Randy “The Dream” Weaver would start on the front row of the stacked field. Weaver has had a very successful past few weeks picking up the win at Dixie and a top five finish at Rome just a couple nights earlier. They green was out and Weaver took off with the 2020 Lucas Oil Late Model Champion Jimmy Owens giving chase. Ashton Winger, Mike Marlar and Dale McDowell rounded out the top five on the start. The top two began to put a little space on the rest of the top five in the early laps. Pierce McCarter began turning up the pressure on Marlar trying to crack the top five. Owens had been chewing up the lead Weaver had built up and on lap 25 The Dream became a Nightmare as Owens powered by on the inside coming off turn four taking the top spot away. Tyler Erb would pull of track early and retire for the night along with the #40B of Kyle Bronson. The field began to get a bit stretched out as Robby Moses retired for the night. Owens would pull away in the second half to become the first driver to win two Scott Sexton Memorials.

Baily Cardwell put down a blistering lap in qualifying earning the pole for the 20 lap 602 Late Model feature. Addison Cardwell hadn’t even planned on racing but got the last minute call to fill in for Tim Bounds to fill in for him. The Cardwell’s would fill the front row as the green waved with Lee Branch, Scottie Hogan and David Singleton the rest of the top five. Addison would get the jump on Hayden taking the lead early. Trouble for the #6 of Chandler Hickman who would spin bringing out the caution. On the restart Branch would dive under Baily Cardwell trying to get the runner up spot but had to fall back in line. Addison Cardwell would run away in the closing laps picking up the win and getting the #11 car it’s first win.

The 20 lap B-Hobby/Super Street feature was up next. We hadn’t seen the Jeffrey Wood but he would leave an impression setting fast time earlier in the day. It was a rough start for him however as he would go for a spin in turn two in the opening laps which would end up being the end of his night. After he was removed it was back to racing with Pete Wright rocketing to the lead over Robbie Comer, McKenlee hall and Brady Lee in the #31. The caution waved early for the #13 of Austin Byrd who tangled with the #9 of Spencer Cranfield. Byrd looked to have suffered some rear-end damage as he had to take the long slow ride on the back of the tractor to his pit area. The fight for the runner up spot was intense as Comer and Hall made pretty heavy contract on the front stretch tearing part of the nose off the #42 of Comer. Up front it was all Wright as he ran way to a huge lead to score the win.

The final race of the night would be the 20 lap Classic Car feature. Shaun Sise has been the 411 dominator in Classic Car and he would once again lead us to green on the start. Sise, Mark Sise, Logan Dukes, Christian Runyon and John Stevens were your top runners in the early laps. Stevens had the heat turned up on Dukes as he tried to wrestle the third spot away as the laps ticked off. Trouble for the # of Jimmy Rayhuff who went for a spin in turn four slowing the pace. Sise would pull away again to pick up yet another win.
