6.29.19 – 411 Motor Speedway Results
SEYMOUR, Tenn. (June 29, 2019) — Matt Tharp of Luttrell cruised to his first-ever win Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in the Sportsman Challenge. Tharp had recorded runner-up and third-place finishes over the past five years at Tennessee’s Action Track, but had not visited victory lane.
Clyde “The Mule Hollow Missle” Stanton set a new Sportsman Late Model track record in qualifying at 14.282 seconds, but it was the “Luttrell Leadfoot” Tharp jumping out into the lead at start of the 30-lap main event over Stanton. Behind the front-running duo, racing action was good involving Bradley Lewelling, Jed Emert, David Miley, Brad Seagle, Hunter Kerr, Jake Whitehead and Brandon Miller.
Stanton stayed within striking distance of leader Tharp over the first 20 laps. The caution waved on lap 22 when Cody Gloyne got into the wall. Stanton looked to mount a serious charge on Tharp over the last eight laps, but Tharp would have none of it.
Tharp captured the $1,000 Sportsman Challenge victory over Stanton, Lewelling, Seagle and Whitehead.
Logan Hickey of Morristown earned a hard-fought Modified Street win as he and Robbie Comer raced nose-to-tail and on occasions side-by-side up off the corners throughout the 20-lap feature. Hickey took the victory over Comer, Dwayne Fox and Ryan Watson.
Will Carey of Knoxville recorded his first Classic victory of the season by outrunning Shaun Sise, Michael Millsap, Tim Bounds and Mac Lockhart.
Nathan Adams of Crossville captured his fourth Front Wheel Drive feature win of the season over Darrell Teffeteller, Bryan Williams, Chris Holley and James Houk.
Josh Henry of Newport and Josh Driskill battled throughout the Street Stock race, with Henry taking the checkered flag to win over Driskill, Danny Tulloch and Todd Beeler.
