RACE NIGHT RECAP

Mother Nature tried her best to spoil our Saturday night, but in the end, we were able to complete all 7 divisions of racing! In Modified Mini, Michael Courtney was cruising to another win until he would make a mistake, allowing Tom Vann to capitalize and hold off Courtney’s rebound to claim the win. Next on the speedway was Street Stock, where Dale Watson took the checkers, but the 2nd and 3rd place finishers were disqualified in post-race tech. In Mini Stock, Rocky McNabb wrestled his way to the lead, but bad luck struck, handing the lead to Keith Sands, who couldn’t hold off David Singleton, who cruised to the checkers. Next was NeSmith Crates, where Adam Beeler made contact with Greg Martin with a handful of laps remaining to claim the checkers. Thunder & Lightning was up next where Wendell Spence had a violent flip on the frontstretch. He was transported via ambulance to a local hospital and was later released. At the checkers, Caleb Patton was given the checkers and took his victory lap, but Freddy Hillard was the true winner. In Topless Modified, Marvin Romines was out front until lap traffic slowed him up, where Keith Gregory would dive inside and run into Romines to steal the lead and claim another win on the season, and in Limited, Josh Collins cruised to the checkers by a half lap over 2nd place Ryan King and lapped all the way up to 4th place. What a drive!

Next up is another regular racing program this Saturday July 21st! Join us for another exciting night of racing action at Tennessee’s Action Track!

==============================================

Modified Mini
Michael Courtney and Tom Vann your front row, ready to roll, GREEN FLAG! Courtney quickly jumps to the lead off turn 2, Vann back to 2nd. Nick Perry up to 3rd, Brad Pressley now back to 5th as Rocky McNabb is chasing Perry into turn 3. Now McNabb and Perry make slight contact in 4, they’ll continue on down into 1. Vann losing touch with Courtney as Perry is holding back a hornets nest, and here comes McNabb. He gets loose into 3, opens the door for Perry to come back in on the inside, but off 2 McNabb pulls away. Pressley now inside Perry, they make contact into 3, now Perry gets up in the loose stuff, smacks the turn 1 wall, and caution will fly here on lap 5.

Green flag back in the air, Courtney mashes the loud pedal. Pressley looks inside McNabb off 2, McNabb pulls away. Courtney in the lead, Vann in 2nd, McNabb in 3rd. Street Stock
Jeff McLemore and Austin Atkins your front row, off turn 4, GREEN FLAG! McLemore with the jump off 2, Dale Watson inside Atkins, Bradly Lewelling behind them as Shorty Ledford goes around in 4, caution flies here on lap 1.

Green flag back in the air, but now Ledford smacks the wall off 4.

Green flag back in the air, McLemore hard on the gas, Watson hot on his heels, now Jon Cook and Lewelling go to battle into 3, but now McLemore gets sideways into 1, apparent tire down, now Dwayne Fox goes through the infield off 2, Watson your leader, closes quickly on Fox, Atkins in 2nd, 3rd is Lewelling, with Cook in 4th. Watson your leader here on lap 8, Lewelling muscles around Atkins into 1, sets his sights on Atkins as he’s about 20 car lengths ahead, but now Darrin Busler around in turn 3, caution here on lap 8.

Green flag back in the air, Watson bottles up the field as he waits for the flagman to drop the green, Cook around Atkins into 1, sets his sights on Lewelling as Watson continues to lead. Now West doing a little blocking as McNabb tries to find his way around, now McNabb powers around off 4 for the lead here on lap 5. McNabb pulling away with Sands behind him. Singleton on the inside of West, West up in the loose stuff, hangs on. McNabb your leader, Keith Sands in 2nd with Singleton in 3rd. Singleton closing in on Keith Sands, looking to steal the 2nd spot. Now trouble for McNabb, he slows off turn 2, pulls in, hands the lead to Keith Sands. Singleton now in 2nd, knocking on the door for the race lead. Singleton looks inside for a moment, falls in line off 2. Looks inside in 3, falls in line off 4. Now battle for the lead, Singleton leans on Keith Sands, give the lead to Singleton here to click off lap 14. Keith Sands beginning to reel in Singleton slightly as they have 2 laps remaining. NeSmith Crate Late Models
Adam Beeler and Greg Martin your front row, this should be a great race, GREEN FLAG! Martin powers away with the lead off 2, Beeler in 2nd, Marty Calloway in 3rd with Brad Seagle in 4th, Clyde Stanton with an issue in turn 3, he’ll crawl to a stop and caution flies with 1 lap in the books.

Thunder & Lightning
Freddy Hillard and Caleb Patton your front row, ready to roll, GREEN FLAG! Patton powers away off 2 with the race lead. Apaches Quinton inside Hillard, but Hillard powers away slightly. Rocky Ogle just behind Quinton with Michael Boyd just behind him, now Robbie Comer slows into turn 3, looks like more trouble for him, he just hasn’t had any luck the past few weeks. Patton out front, Hillard in 2nd, 3rd is Quinton as smoke starts to show from that machine, but now we have a big crash here on the frontstretch, Wendell Spence has rolled his machine here on the frontstretch at least twice. I didn’t get to see the beginning so I’m not sure whether contact was made but judging on where the car landed, it’s a possibility. The Sevier County Rescue Squad did a fantastic job on working to get Spence out of that mangled machine. He was removed from the car and was transported via ambulance to a local hospital. Red flag here with 5 laps are on the board. UPDATE: As of about 11:45p on Saturday, doctors had ran tests and were expecting to release Spence overnight.

Due to the time limit expiring, this feature is going to be a green/white/checker finish. Green flag back in the air, Patton hard on the gas into turn 1. Hillard in 2nd, Quinton in 3rd with Ogle in 4th. Checkers in the air, Patton takes the checkers, Hillard in 2nd, Quinton in 3rd, but some confusion as apparently Patton was on a “courtesy” run for this feature and receives no money and no points, but is also being scored last, so the win will go to Hillard, Quinton takes 2nd, and 3rd goes to Ogle.

Caution/Red Flag: 1

Topless Modified
Jerry Hux and Marvin Romines side by side, GREEN FLAG! Romines the leader off 2, Jerry Hux in 2nd, Keith Gregory in 3rd. William Hux and Paul Johnson in tow with Patrick Evans rounding out the field. Gregory now trying to reel in Romines with halfway to go. Johnson trying to close in on Jerry Hux. Gregory trying to close in on Romines, now has 6 laps remaining. Now Gregory up on 2 wheels in 3, trying everything to get to Romines bumper, now 4 laps to go. Lap traffic will become a factor. Romines trying to get around lap traffic, now Gregory pulls inside, makes contact with Romines, a lot of damage on the Gregory machine, now Evans will make contact with Gregory, but the checkers are in the air, Gregory takes the win, Romines in 2nd, and Johnson gets 3rd.

Limited Late Model
Josh Collins and Rusty Ballenger your front row, out of turn 4, GREEN FLAG! Collins with the lead off 2, Ballenger in 2nd, Ryan King in 3rd, Ruben Mayfield down on his inside. Jason Manley looking for room around all of them. King looks inside Ballenger for a moment, now Manley looks outside on Mayfield, falls in line. Ruben Mayfield goes to work on King, now King powers inside Ballenger as he has a bobble off 2, he’ll lose several positions, looks like his machine is broke, and he’ll pull into the infield in 2. Collins has opened up a huge lead here as Mayfield looks inside King, now Mack McCarter loses a left-rear tire into 3. Mayfield powers inside King in 3 once again, falls in line off 4. Collins a straightaway to the good here with 8 laps on the board. King in 2nd, Mayfield in 3rd with Manley 4th. Heath Alvey looks inside on Jimmy Calloway off 4, falls in line. Collins not far from lap traffic as he’s setting down a blistering pace as Mayfield has a bobble, drops fluid in 3, pulls into the infield off 4. King in 2nd, Manley now in 3rd. Collins working around lap traffic methodically, as he places our 5th place car a lap down with 15 laps remaining! Alvey running in the 4th spot, only about a half straightaway from himself being lapped by Collins, as King is almost a half lap behind. Collins running smooth and fancy at this point of the race, looks like he’s on a rail as we have 10 laps remaining. Checkers in the air, Collins claims the win, King gets 2nd, and 3rd goes to Manley.
