7.29.23 Deer Creek Speedway Results

Spring Valley, MN (July 29)

By: Todd Narveson

A picture-perfect day greeted racers and fans alike at Deer Creek Speedway this week. Another large field of 131 cars were on hand.

This week’s program was supported by Essig Agency, Weber Auto Parts, Podein’s Power Equipment and Rochester Chevrolet.

The Kid’s Dreams Come True USRA B-Mods had 41-cars and once again were split into two 18-lap feature races. In the first, Dylan Goettl and Spencer Stock battle for the lead.

Goettl led until lap seven when Stock scooted by. Goettl regained the lead back on lap eight. They made a little contact but continued on. A caution came out shortly thereafter and Stock would leave the track with a flat left front tire.

Another caution came out and set up a two-lap dash to the finish. Goettl fended off Hunter Kennedy to win his second of the season. Noah Grinstead finished third while Brandon Hare and Cole Lonergan were fourth and fifth.

In the second feature pole sitter Cole Bennerotte led the first two laps before Joe Chisholm got by him. Bennerotte spun in turn four to trigger a caution.

The race was slowed by several cautions and eventually the fifth yellow flag under green flag conditions forced five laps to by cut on lap nine.

Chisholm led the final four laps for his third win of the year. Brian Shaw had his best run of the season in second with Zach Brom in third. Gavin Shaw would finish fourth and Brody Shaw was fifth.

Adam Speicher led the first six laps of the Meadow Greens Golf Course USRA Hobby Stock feature. Luke Schluetter was scored the leader on lap seven before the yellow came out.

The race was slowed by a couple more cautions but it did not deter Schluetter. Schluetter would lead the rest of the way for his second triumph of the season. Nick Schwebach was second with Chris Hovden third. Ryan Happel was fourth and Speicher was fifth.

The Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature was action packed. Paul Neisius led with Don Schaefer right on his heels. A yellow slowed the race on lap six.

On the restart, Schaefer bolted to the lead and Kadden Kath shot to second. A yellow on lap eight set up a wild restart. Kath challenged Schaefer while Nick Koehler moved to third.

On lap 10 Kath slider up and made hard contact with Schaefer in turn two. Schaefer slowed and the yellow was back out. Kath was moved to the tail and Schaefer was back in the lead.

Koehler shot past Schaefer on lap 12 and led the final six laps foe his second win of the season. Neisius rebounded back to second while Tommy Myer was third. Chistopher Deno and Schaefer were in the top five.

The Rochester Chevrolet USRA Stock Cars had a great race for the lead early on. Derek Green, Travis Shipman and Chris Toot went three wide up front on lap three. Green held the lead with Toot and Shipman close.

The lead trio ran the low groove but 12th starter Brayden Gjere rocketed around the top side. Gjere moved up and challenged Shipman for third on lap 10. Gjere then zoomed around Toot for second on lap 13.

On lap later Gjere rocketed around the outside of Green to take the lead. Gjere led until lap 17 when misfortune struck as his car slowed and he dropped off the pace. That moved Green back to the lead.

Green led the final three laps to score his 17th win of the season. Shipman got to second and Chris Toot’s excellent run found him third. Andrew Bleess finished in fourth and Kory Adams was fifth.

Lucas Schott was the class of the field in the 25-lap Napa Auto Care Centers USRA Modifieds. Schott started on the pole and led all 25-laps. Schott used the top side of the track and opened up a large lead.

A yellow on lap 22 set up a three-lap dash, but it did not slow Schott and he won his third of the season. Brandon Davis came from 11th to second over Jim Chisholm in third. Kylie Kath finished fourth and Jacob Bless was fifth.
